Swim Teams

The Severna Park Community Center provides opportunities for all youth and adults who wish to be part of a swim training program. Talented, caring coaches and a supportive community provide a platform for lifelong skills and friendships.

Youth Swim Teams and Training

Age: 6 – 8 Years Old

In a supportive team environment, the purpose of Junior Swim Team is to develop and improve stroke efficiency, build endurance, and prepare for competition. Each swimmer must be able to swim two lengths of the pool and have knowledge of at least two competitive strokes. Junior Swim Team is perfect for young swimmers preparing for summer swim team season. Participation in 4 intramural swim meets a year for any interested swimmer. Junior swim is currently designed for children 7 & under.

FALL  2024 UPDATE

GREAT things are coming to SPCC Aquatics in the Fall!  The Athlee underwater cameras have arrived. SPCC will now implement the use of video analysis to their swim development and training programs. Focused sessions will allow swimmers to receive immediate visual along with coach observed feedback. A valuable educational tool.

Fall Registration Opens August 1. Register early as we anticipate sessions to fill quickly.

Age: 6 – 15 Years Old
SPCC’s Intramural Swim Team’s (IMST) is ideal for the youth swimmer who aspires to join a year-round competitive swim team, or who may not have the time to commit to a competitive swim program. The focus is on building a strong foundation for competitive swimming through developing stroke mechanics, building endurance and learning to swim relevant events. Each swimmer will identify individual goals and will be encouraged to reach their highest potential.  Swimmers will be grouped by age as well as ability.

Geared specifically for the homeschooler who wants to develop their swimming skills or compete, SPCC offers weekday swim team training.

Ages: 6 to Adult Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards independently and follow directions from coaches on deck. There are three intra-squad meets a year for swimmers who want to compete. Many swimmers also participate in Special Olympics.

Registrants must complete and forward the registration form to Christian Furry cfurry@spcommunitycenter.org

Participants may not begin classes until the registration form is received.   Registration is by session.  You may register at the front desk or online.

Age: 9th – 12th Grade
Designed to prepare high school swimmers for the upcoming high school swim team season.

Age: 6 – 17 Years Old
​The Sea Dragons summer swim team is designed for swimmers who can swim at least four lengths of the pool. It is a great place to learn strokes, starts, turns, and improve endurance as well as experience team competition.

Please note: Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length unassisted.

Age: 6 – 9 Years Old & 10 – 15 Years Old
Stroke mechanics, and an introduction to competition, including starts, turns, and finishes, will be the basis for the Stroke and Turn Clinic.

Each swimmer must be able to swim at least one length of the pool, have knowledge of four strokes, and be able to swim freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will be grouped by age as well as ability.

Adult Swim Team and Training

Age: 18+
Individualized workouts are geared to optimize each person’s skill level. Stroke technique, endurance swimming and goal setting are emphasized throughout the session. You must be able to swim 50 yards without stopping and have knowledge of all four competitive strokes.

Age: 18+
Individually-focused, supportive, and social, masters swimming provides something for everyone. Master’s swimmers practice at SPCC year-round. Recreational, fitness, and competitive swimmers alike are grouped into lanes based on skill and fitness levels allowing coaches to tailor workouts according to ability and individual goals. Competition is available for those interested. Members benefit form a supportive community-based swim program focused on fitness and well-being.

Year-round registrations may be purchased online or at the front desk through September. If you would like to register after September, contact Shelly Beigel for your prorated fee. 

Three-month program registration's may be processed online or at the front desk any time of the year.
