Sarah Elder is the dedicated and accomplished Executive Director of the Severna Park Community Center. With over twenty-five years of executive nonprofit experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

Born and raised in Anne Arundel County, Sarah has always been deeply connected to her community. Her impressive resume includes leadership positions at esteemed local nonprofits such as the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, National Aquarium in Baltimore, Chesapeake Conservancy, Historic Annapolis Foundation, and the American Urological Association Foundation. Through her work in fundraising, operations, marketing, and program development, Sarah has made a significant impact on these organizations and the community at large.

In 2015, Sarah earned her Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Duke University, further cementing her commitment to continuous professional growth and excellence.

Sarah’s passion for the arts extends beyond her professional life. Growing up as one of five girls in a family closely tied to the United States Naval Academy, she and her sisters formed a string quartet, performing at family reunions and church services. As a young adult, she played an integral role in establishing the Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church as a Sunday School teacher.

Outside of her work and community involvement, Sarah indulges in her creative side by exploring flea markets, antique shows, and craft fairs. Her keen eye for unique finds fuels her jewelry-making pastime, allowing her to channel her artistic expression.

As the Executive Director of the Severna Park Community Center, Sarah Elder continues to make a lasting impact on the community she calls home. With her extensive experience, passion for service, and commitment to nurturing a thriving community, Sarah is a leader dedicated to empowering others and creating a brighter future for all.

Shelly Beigel is a dedicated individual who has made a significant impact in the health and wellness community. Joining the Severna Park Community Center in 2017 as the Aquatics Director, Shelly immediately brought her lifelong passion for wellness to the forefront. Now serving as the Center’s Director of Programs and Partnerships, she is committed to expanding programming that focuses on the health and well-being of our valued patrons.

One of Shelly’s key strengths lies in her deep connections to the local health and fitness community in our county. In particular, she has a strong devotion to our local teenagers and seniors. Recognizing the importance of reaching out to these demographics, Shelly has spearheaded crucial initiatives and continues to develop new classes in aquatic exercise, instruction, wellness, and therapy.

With a wealth of experience under her belt, Shelly’s career has been marked by achievements and contributions. Prior to joining SPCC, she served as the Aquatics Director of Big Vanilla in Pasadena. Throughout her career, she has excelled in teaching middle school, coaching swimming, leading aquatics instruction and lifeguard training, developing fitness programming, and providing unwavering support for the health and wellness of water-lovers and active individuals of all ages and abilities.

Shelly’s dedication, experience, and passion make her an invaluable asset to the Severna Park Community Center. She is committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive environment that promotes the overall well-being of our community members. Aaron is an experienced professional with a diverse background in Real Estate and Facility Management. With over 20 years of industry expertise, he joined the Severna Park Community Center in May of 2022, bringing his valuable skills and knowledge to the team.

Aaron’s educational background includes graduating from Bowie State University, where he was not only a diligent student but also a trailblazer. As the founding president of the inaugural Chapter of the American Marketing Association, he showcased his leadership abilities and paved the way for future students. Additionally, his membership in the prestigious National Honor Society during his time at the university reflects his commitment to academic excellence.

Starting his career as a Government Event Manager for the Department of Defense, Aaron cultivated valuable experience in organizing and managing large-scale events. This eventually led him to venture into the real estate industry, where he has excelled in various roles including property management, multi-unit ownership, and project management.

When Aaron isn’t dedicating himself to his professional endeavors, he prioritizes quality time with his daughter. He cherishes their bond and actively seeks opportunities to create lasting memories. In his leisure time, Aaron finds solace in fishing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, connecting with nature while honing his angling skills. He also has a passion for gardening and takes pride in nurturing plants and watching them flourish. Furthermore, he enjoys expanding his knowledge through the learning process and finds fascination in good documentaries.

As a resident of the local community, Aaron holds a deep appreciation for the area’s traditions. He eagerly anticipates events such as the Earleigh Heights Carnival, where the community comes together to celebrate and create joyful memories. Additionally, he enthusiastically participates in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear plunge, showcasing his adventurous spirit and willingness to support charitable causes.

With his extensive professional background, commitment to personal growth, and active involvement in community traditions, Aaron is a valuable addition to the Severna Park Community Center. His expertise and dedication will undoubtedly contribute to the success and growth of the organization.

Sandy Gins

Sandy Gins is our esteemed Director of HR & Operations, bringing her extensive experience and expertise to oversee the financial, human resources, and front desk activities at the Center. Joining our staff in 2019 as the Operations Manager, Sandy’s capabilities and contributions have led to her well- deserved promotion.

With over twenty years of experience in accounting and human resources, Sandy’s proficiency in managing these crucial aspects of our organization is second to none. Her previous role in her family’s company, where she successfully handled both accounting and human resources, showcases her mastery in these fields. Moreover, Sandy’s involvement with various nonprofit organizations, including Severn School, has provided her with a diverse range of experiences that greatly benefit our center.

Residing in Severna Park for over two decades with her husband and three children, Sandy has always been an active member of the community. Spending countless hours at SPCC while waiting for her children, she has witnessed firsthand the positive impact our center has on families. Her daughter’s years spent dancing at the Dance Center at Severna Park Community Center, and her children’s swimming lessons here, further highlight Sandy’s personal connection with our programs.

Outside of work, Sandy finds solace in reading and enjoys taking walks with her beloved dogs. Her commitment to personal growth and knowledge is evident in her dedication to reading, while her love for nature and exercise is reflected in her outdoor activities.

Kellie Greer

Kellie Greer is a passionate and accomplished dancer, teacher, and choreographer with a deep-rooted love for the art of dance. Having grown up at the prestigious Carter School of Dance, Kellie honed her skills and developed a strong foundation in the Cecchetti method, mastering student Grades I-VI.

Dedicated to continuous learning and growth, Kellie ventured to Cleveland, Ohio to further her studies with the esteemed Cecchetti Council of America. She also pursued her training at SUNY in Buffalo, NY, attending the Dance Masters of America Teacher Training School. These experiences have equipped her with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in various dance forms.

As a testament to her exceptional abilities, Kellie is proudly affiliated with the Cecchetti Council of America and Dance Masters of America Chapter 17. These esteemed organizations recognize her commitment to excellence and her contribution to the dance community.

Kellie’s choreography has garnered national recognition, capturing the attention of audiences and fellow dancers alike. Her passion for teaching is evident through her remarkable students, some of whom have gone on to pursue dance careers in prominent cities like Los Angeles, Boston, and New York.

In her quest for personal and professional growth, Kellie has successfully completed her Teachers Cecchetti Exams I-IV and is currently focused on conquering Grade V. Her dedication to mastering her craft is unwavering, and she constantly strives to expand her knowledge and skills.

As an accomplished instructor, Kellie imparts her expertise in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, and Cecchetti. Her commitment to nurturing young talents and guiding them towards their full potential is truly inspiring. Serving as the artistic director for the full dance program, Kellie brings her artistic vision and leadership abilities to shape a dynamic and innovative dance curriculum.

Amy Holbrook

Amy Holbrook is a dedicated professional who has made a significant impact in her role as the Director of Community Outreach and Marketing at the Severna Park Community Center (SPCC). With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current position.

Her journey with SPCC began when she first stepped foot through its doors as a mom, accompanying her son Griffon during his swimming lessons. Now, Griffon has blossomed into a rising 10th grader at the prestigious Annapolis Area Christian School. This personal experience fuels Amy’s passion for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for families and individuals in the community.

In her day-to-day activities, Amy collaborates closely with the programming team, meticulously planning and organizing a wide range of community events. Her dedication extends beyond the SPCC walls as she actively seeks partnerships with local non-profits and businesses, aiming to foster a sense of unity and cooperation within the community.

Amy’s sense of fulfillment stems from the connections she forges with the community she has called home for over three decades. Her deep understanding of the local environment and its unique needs enables her to tailor outreach efforts effectively and spread awareness about the incredible programs and opportunities that SPCC offers.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Amy finds solace and joy by indulging in her passions. She relishes the tranquility of the beach and finds solace in its gentle waves. Additionally, Amy cherishes quality time spent with her extended family, creating lasting memories and strengthening bonds.

Amy’s enthusiasm for her community is evident in her favorite local traditions. The 4th of July Parade, which conveniently passes right by the SPCC, holds a special place in her heart. Likewise, she eagerly anticipates the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Blue Angels soaring through the skies, visible from downtown Annapolis.

Joining us in 2020, she quickly became an integral part of our organization, collaborating closely with Sarah and Amy on various community events, fundraising initiatives, and our highly anticipated annual gala.

With an extensive background in fundraising for the United Way, Collette brings exceptional expertise to her role. She effectively manages fundraising appeals, diligently tracks gifts, and ensures timely acknowledgements. Additionally, Collette excels at developing strategic timelines to deliver materials for community and fundraising events, contributing to the seamless execution of our initiatives.

Not only does Collette provide invaluable support to our Board of Directors by leveraging her administrative expertise, but she also handles governance actions with utmost professionalism. Her attention to detail and organizational skills are unmatched, making her an invaluable asset to our team.

Collette’s passion lies in collaborating with her amazing teammates to generate innovative ideas and strategies that empower us to achieve our fundraising and outreach goals. Her dedication and take- charge approach to supporting programs led to her well-deserved promotion to Development & Communications Manager in July, where she continues to make a significant impact on our organization.

Beyond her professional life, Collette finds joy in traveling with her loved ones and cherishing quality time with her furry family members. Her vibrant personality and well-rounded interests make her a delightful presence in and outside of the workplace.

Meet Sharon, a dedicated and experienced customer service professional who has been an invaluable member of the Severna Park Community Center since 2019. With over 15 years of business experience in real estate and contract settlements, Sharon brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a customer service front desk representative.
In early 2020, Sharon was recognized for her exceptional skills and promoted to her current position, where she now manages the front desk team and handles various responsibilities such as making appointments and addressing any issues that may arise. Her extensive 35 years of experience in the customer service industry have provided her with a deep understanding of the importance of delivering exceptional service to every patron.

One of Sharon’s favorite aspects of her job is the opportunity to develop connections with the center’s patrons. She takes pride in creating a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated. With a passion for seeing the center flourish, Sharon eagerly anticipates the future growth and success of the Severna Park Community Center, as it continues to be a place where people can gather, play, grow, and thrive.

Outside of work, Sharon has made Severna Park her home for the past 25 years, where she resides with her loving husband Dave and their delightful 11-year-old granddaughter, Nicole. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in her love for reading books, spending quality time with her family, and tending to her beautiful garden.
