The Severna Park Community Center was founded as a gift to the community from Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1995, when it was purchased from the YMCA of Severna Park.

Then-members of Woods Church believed that the existing main pool and building on the property could continue to serve the community, making the decision to buy the pool and property. While the church could have turned the property into an extension of the church, they instead decided to “give” the space back to the community, as a place that was open to all.

This gift from the church established the Severna Park Community Center, an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. The Severna Park Community Center holds its own mortgage, and is supported by an executive director, staff and a working board of directors comprised of 16 business leaders and active volunteers from the Anne Arundel County community. Since our founding, the facility has grown to include a fitness center, gymnasium, dance studios, and several community spaces used for classes, programs, workshops, and family celebrations.

The center has transformed the corner of Cypress Creek Road and B&A Boulevard in Severna Park into a state-of-the-art public recreation and meeting facility, making us the only one of our kind in the area. And over the last 25+ years, an estimated 40,000 people have enjoyed using our facility annually.

Today, we celebrate the local community who came together to create this amazing resource, and all the individuals, companies, nonprofit organizations, and families who have made this place their home. To support the center in its continued mission, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to Severna Park Community Center.
